One day, one fast : Johan van der Walt, professor in philosophy of law in Luxembourg

Jusqu’au 2 décembre, nous partagerons avec vous des mini-interviews de jeûneurs, qui permettront de mettre des visages sur les jeûneurs, de découvrir pourquoi ils jeûnent, comment et quelle interpellation leur jeûne porte !

What convinced you to participate in the fast for the climate?

I attended seminars on climate change and the law some time ago and woke up to the reality that the crisis humanity is facing is much bigger than I thought it was and that time was running out rapidly.

In what way do you plan to fast?

My family and I will not use a motorcar during the days of the jeûne, and will also not eat red meat during these days.

When we discuss climate issues, we touch on all the major questions that humanity is confronted with. Which theme is most important to you and why? For example: climate and migration, climate and biodiversity, climate and peace, climate and social justice, etc.

All the examples you list concern crucial issues. Questions of social justice are or course of crucial importance for anyone who works in legal theory, and the question of migration is closely related to it.

Which question or appeal would you like to submit to our political representatives during the COP24?

To act, and to act fast and effectively.
